Meet Your Hosts

As former owners of Greens Resort, we—Patrick and Trish Thompson—are deeply rooted in the history, traditions, and heart of Nestor Falls. Though Greens has always been a cherished landmark for guests from all over, for us it has been far more than a business. It’s been part of our story, our marriage, and our connection to Lake of the Woods.

Both of us were raised in Warroad, Minnesota, with Lake of the Woods shaping our childhoods—the fishing, the hunting, and the small-town feeling that teaches you the value of hard work and community. Patrick spent his summers growing up at a fly-in fishing camp north of Kenora, and he has been a bush pilot for nearly two decades. The North has been his runway, his backyard, and his heartbeat. This will be his ninth season flying out of Nestor Falls —a place that has become our second home.

I spent some time in Grand Forks and Fargo, North Dakota, soaking in the big to me cities while pursuing my bachelor's degree in Finance at MSUM, Go Dragons! After college, I met Pat, a fellow adventurer, and we decided to explore the great outdoors together. Our first big trip took us traveling through the bush to Saskatchewan, Then, we continued our journey to Ontario, where we found even more to discover and enjoy. As proud dual citizens of both the U.S. and Canada —it felt great to explore new adventures before we started our family in 2020.

Honoring a Legacy

When we became owners of Greens Resort in April 2024, we stepped into a legacy that stretches back generations. Greens has always been part of the fabric of Nestor Falls—welcoming anglers, families, pilots, locals, and travelers who return year after year because this place simply feels like home.

We understood that immediately. You don’t just run Greens—you care for it, you nurture it, and you honor the memories made here, both past and present. There is a Tribute wall to Greens in Thompson's Lodge where we hope people will reminisce and commemorate all their memories at such a wonderful historic place.

A New Chapter After Loss

After the tragic fire in November 2024, our commitment to this community only grew stronger. Even in loss, we recognized that we were part of something much bigger: the long story of Nestor Falls—early mornings on the dock, fish tales over coffee, and familiar faces walking through the door season after season. So for the 2025 Season, I purchased a food trailer and came up with another new menu. It was a great success, and I don't regret taking that big leap!

Becoming Part of the History

Nestor Falls has its own rich and rugged history—early trappers and loggers, floatplanes, family resorts, fly-in tourism, and generations of guests who made this place a part of their lives. In our own small way, we became part of that story too: through the meals we cooked, the conversations shared, and the pride we carried in maintaining a place people loved.

Now, as we move into our new establishment—Thompson’s Lodge—we carry that same pride with us.

OUR VALUES

Rooted in Community

This town is built by people who work hard, stay rooted, and welcome others like family. Those values guide everything we do.

Today, we remain committed to what drew us here in the first place:
community, connection, tradition, and the joy of welcoming people back to the lake we love.

THE HEART OF THOMPSON’S LODGE

Here, the history of the lake and the town isn’t written in books.
It’s alive in the way people greet one another…
in the sound of floatplanes…
in a warm meal after a long day on the water…
in the stories, memories, and moments shared around tables, docks, and shorelines.

As new owners bringing new energy, we’re honoring what came before us while creating something meaningful for the community and for travelers from near and far.

This isn’t just a business.
It’s the story of our marriage, our roots, our dreams—and our belief that Nestor Falls isn’t a destination.
It’s home.

We’re grateful to be part of its past, present, and future.

OUR MISSION

A Mission Built on Heart

Our purpose moving forward is simple but deeply personal:

To create a place where people feel at home the moment they walk through the door.

A place where guests become friends.
Where stories are shared.
Where the heartbeat of Nestor Falls—fishing, laughter, long summer nights—lives on year after year.

Honoring the Past, Building the Future

Our mission includes:

  • Preserving the spirit and history of Greens Resort

  • Strengthening our connection with the community and returning guests

  • Creating warm, memorable experiences through food, hospitality, and comfort

  • Continuing a legacy built on integrity, hard work, and life on the lake

OUR COMMITMENT

Here for the Long Haul

We are not here for a moment or a season.
We are here for the long haul—committed to Nestor Falls, to this lake, and to the people who make it what it is.

Every improvement, every menu, every renovation comes from one place:
our desire to create something lasting, welcoming, and full of heart.

A PLACE THAT FEELS LIKE HOME

Lake of the Woods raised us.
Nestor Falls embraced us.
Greens Resort gave us a chance to give something meaningful back.

And now, with Thompson’s Lodge, our goal is simple:

**To create a place that feels like home—

for everyone who walks through our doors.**
